Gettin’ Along: Wondering if We Can Be Two Peas In a Pod?
One of the main goals for hiring a Virtual Assistant is developing a long-term relationship with someone who will support you and your business. Don’t you want someone who will be a good fit (i.e. two peas in a pod)? I know I do!
But, we’re all human; and I know it is impossible to get along with everybody all the time. So it stands to reason that not every client will be right for me, and I will not be the right VA for every client. Take a gander at some qualities I resonate with (or don’t) in a working relationship:
We’ll Get Along Fine…
I enjoy building relationships with my clients, focusing on helping them long-term to build their business and create the life they love. We’ll get along fine if you’re a business owner who:
- Is a Christian or has a high moral/ethical belief system.
- Has a professional attitude, strong business sense, and an idea where they need help to grow their business.
- Has a view of where their business is currently, and where I can jump in to start helping them.
- Has a sense of humor and a more laid-back perspective in general.
- Realizes the value in having me help them, but can stand on their own if I’m on vacation.
- Is family oriented.
- Can communicate clearly and in a timely manner.
- Can be gracious, understands that nobody’s perfect, and agrees that when mistakes are made we’ll work through them together.
- Understands that we’re both business owners.
- Wants a long term partnership with their VA that’s connected and more personal.
- Is easy to talk to and has similar interests so we can relate to one another.
- Is based in the continental United States and understands I am NOT responsible for GPDR if they do international business.
Aww, Bless Your Heart…
If you have ever heard a Southern woman say “Aww, bless your/their heart” – that’s a nice way of saying they don’t agree with someone or a situation. Along those lines, you may want to look elsewhere if you’re a business owner who:
- Doesn’t have a high moral/ethical belief system.
- Doesn’t like to plan ahead and ends up rushing to deadlines.
- Always comes to me with an “emergency” that must be done immediately (even if that falls outside my business hours).
- Consistently has trouble paying monthly bills.
- Manipulates situations and people to your advantage constantly.
- Asks illegal requests of my services or does illegal business operations.
- Comes from a constant place of negativity, is derogatory, or is condescending towards me and others.
- Likes to intimidate others.
- Is based out of the continental United States or needs help with GPDR compliance.
